One of the many benefits of having a destination wedding is that it is like a mini vacation, both for the couple to be married and for their guests. It gives them the chance to explore new places and share memorable moments with their loved ones.
So when you choose a state like Puebla, what you are truly giving and sharing is time together, heartfelt emotions, and exceptional experiences that go beyond the big day.
In fact, since destination weddings usually last at least a weekend, or in other words, three or more days, it is important to offer your guests an array of activities so they can enjoy your big event to the fullest.

Puebla has so many
places to explore! ⎯◆
Just be sure to choose the alternatives that are best suited to your guests’ interests, personalities, and preferences because this is a wonderful time for everyone coming to spend time together and get to know each other better. Also keep in mind it is better not to plan more than two group activities per day, so your guests can explore Puebla’s attractions by themselves or, if they prefer, just take it easy.

Surprise your guests!
Tour Puebla’s
Historic Center ━━━━━
Before the wedding, organize a tour of Puebla’s historic center. It has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This is a great way for your guests to discover the city’s rich cultural life.
The Talavera tile facades, the arched porticos, and the Callejón de los Sapos (Alleyway of Frogs)—a pedestrian street where you can find furniture and antiques—plus the imposing Cathedral—one of Mexico’s and Latin America’s most breathtaking buildings—they are all part of a tour covering architecture, customs, and charm.
▌Don’t miss your chance to see the fountain of San Miguel Arcángel, built in 1777 during the time of Spanish rule. It stands right in front of the Cathedral. It is a lovely baroque-style fountain created by the architect Juan Antonio de Santamaría and master stonecutters Anselmo Martínez and José Francisco Rabanillo.
What is so special about it? The design places the statue of Saint Michael Archangel in the center, defeating a dragon, which symbolizes the triumph of the Catholic Church over evil. This iconic sculpture is part of what makes the city a World Heritage Site. It has been one of Puebla’s landmarks for over 200 years!

Check Out the Museums ⎯◆
Puebla is also a top spot for culture lovers. Whether it is before or after the big day, visiting a few of Puebla’s museums can be both insightful and a chance to spend quality time together. There is Museo Amparo (Amparo Museum), Museo Internacional del Barroco (International Baroque Museum), and even Museo Regional de la Revolución Mexicana (Regional Mexican Revolution Museum)—all great options for those who are into history and art.
To begin, Museo Amparo, opened in 1991, curates a collection of pre-Hispanic, colonial, modern, and contemporary art. It is one of the city’s foremost museums thanks in part to its fantastic location just a couple blocks from the main square, the Zócalo. In addition, it has a pleasant rooftop terrace where visitors can enjoy a snack while taking in the view of the old building.
▌Next, the Museo Internacional del Barroco is the place to learn more about the tradition and history of baroque art in Puebla. This architectural treasure was designed by Toyo Ito, has nine interactive galleries covering different subjects, and includes sensory projections and exhibits exploring baroque-style music, literature, and even the period’s fashions.
But if your guests are looking for something with impact, try Museo Regional de la Revolución Mexicana, also called the Casa de los Hermanos Serdán (Brothers Serdán House). It is notable because it is located at the site of the first firefight of the Mexican Revolution on Puebla on November 18, 1910. The 19th-century mansion where everything began is now a mute witness to national history, as it has been turned into a space where visitors can learn more about this important moment in history. It is even possible to see bullet holes on the facade, and one of the rooms displays a mirror that was broken during the clash.

Browse Calle de los Dulces,
El Parián, and Barrio del Artista
━━━━━━━
A must-see spot is Calle de los Dulces, a street lined with candy shops selling camotes (sweet potato candy), borrachitos (liquor-infused candy), tortitas de Santa Clara (cookies), cocadas (coconut milk candy), and oodles of other traditional confections. Pick up something to take home or give to a sweetie.
But if other kinds of handmade objects are what you are looking for, stop into El Parián. Located on old San Roque square, this handicraft market sells the best folk art in Puebla, including skulls, earthenware, Talavera ceramics, wood toys, and local textiles.
If it’s art you want, your destination should be Puebla’s Barrio del Artista. Located just across from El Parián market, visitors to this lovely cobblestone lane can watch artists at work. The painters have small galleries where they offer works for sale. This area was founded in 1940, by a group of teachers from Bellas Artes art school with the aim of creating a national identity that reflected Puebla’s fusion of indigenous and Spanish customs. Even famous muralists such as Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros have influenced the movement.
Panoramic Views:
Estrella de Puebla
━━━━━━━
For a truly unforgettable experience, ride the Estrella de Puebla, one of Latin America’s tallest Ferris Wheels. It rises 262.5 feet into the air! From its gondolas you can get a bird’s-eye view of the entire city, plus panoramic views of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes. Sunsets are beyond magical.

Visit the Magical Towns
of Cholula and Atlixco ⎯◆
If you head out of the capital, you can easily reach the towns of Cholula and Atlixco. They are fantastic destinations for groups. First, Cholula features pyramids, churches, markets, and free-spirited vibes that make for laid-back afternoons. Meanwhile, Atlixco holds nurseries, flower-filled streets, and terraces with volcanic views. They are the perfect place to capture amazing pictures or just spend the afternoon surrounded by blooms and other delights.
San Pedro Cholula, as it’s officially named, is one of Puebla’s Magical Towns and is just half an hour from the state’s capital city. A fun fact is that its name, Cholula, comes from “chololoa” in the Nahuatl language, meaning “leap into water.” But it is really known as the place where indigenous roots and modern-day life blend together.
This makes it a marvelous spot to share with your guests before or after taking your own leap.
▌Atlixco, just 35 minutes from the city of Puebla, is a peaceful oasis bathed in light, color, and natural scenery. One of its main attractions is mount San Miguel, which has a natural scenic overlook on top, along with a small chapel. From there, or any terrace, it is possible to take in the view of the charming town and towering Popocatépetl volcano.
But don’t miss your chance to see their famous stairway adorned by an iconic mural.

A Day on the Wild Side
in Africam Safari
━━━━━━━
▌Another fantastic way to delight your guests is to do something offbeat and fun. If you are an animal lover, head to Africam Safari—it’s a sure win! This park focused on wildlife conservation is only 30 minutes from Puebla. It promises an adventure combining the outdoors, excitement, and a real connection with the animals and their surroundings.
Unlike traditional zoos, Africam Safari lets you explore its over 200 hectares in by car or on a safari bus. Visitors travel through open habitats where animals such as giraffes, zebras, antelopes, rhinoceroses, and ostriches roam freely. It’s a thrilling ride that’s sure to please, perfect for families and groups looking for an adventurous experience to round out the nuptial event.
Besides the drive-through tour, the park offers immersive experiences that include feeding giraffes or exotic birds, attending conservation shows and demonstrations with birds of prey, strolling along themed walking trails home to fascinating species like white tigers and red pandas, and enjoying nighttime adventures such as safaris under the stars.
Africam Safari also features picnic areas, shops, cafeterias, and rest areas, so it is a great spot to spend half or even a whole day. It is even possible to organize private events and VIP experiences if you are interested in giving your closest guests something more exclusive.

Mezcal Tastings ⎯◆
If you want to plan a more sensory experience, organize a mezcal tasting. In fact, Puebla is Mexico’s second-largest mezcal producer, with more than 50 certified brands and a Designation of Origin classification that covers 116 of the state’s municipalities.
What makes Puebla’s mezcal unique is its variety. Several agave species are used to produce the mezcals, each with its own distinct aromatic profile, texture, and flavor notes.
Organizing a mezcal tasting for your guests is more than just offering them a drink—it is inviting them to discover Puebla’s history, artisanal distilling process, and a taste of the land.
▌These days, many mezcal distilleries offer guided tours, pairings, and workshops led by master mezcaleros, or mezcal distillers. They share the magic behind the tools, roasting in stone pits, milling with a tahona stone, and distilling in copper or clay stills. The result: a spirit full of character, mystery, and warmth.
Moreover, in places like Atlixco, Tehuacán, Huehuetlán El Grande, and San Diego La Mesa Tochimiltzingo, it is possible to visit authentic palenques, or artisanal mezcal distilleries, out in the fields of agave, for a truly immersive experience.
